nC Corrosion Passivator
Stop corrosion without blasting
Recurring corrosion often leads to frequent blasting, coating, welding, and unplanned downtime. nC Corrosion Passivator can be applied in-service during operation, delivering effective, forgiving protection for corroded surfaces with minimal pre-treatment and reducing maintenance costs and downtime. Our direct-to-rust solutions, available in soft and hard coat variants, work on both dry and damp surfaces, keeping vessels and equipment protected during operation.
Stop corrosion
Without blasting
- Extends coating system service life
- Reduces operational costs and downtime
- Eliminates repeated surface prep and frequent recoating cycles
- Saves valuable crew time
- Allows easy, forgiving application
nC Corrosion Passivator Applications
On deck
nC Corrosion Passivator Primer 2-in-1 is an easily applicable corrosion protection solutions that can be applied while in service, protecting steel prone to recurring corrosion, like steel inserts and weld.
Example case study: Bulk carrier
Cargo holds
Rust is a recurring issue in cargo holds. Even though the paint may wear off in areas affected by loading and unloading, nC Corrosion Passivator Primer 2-in-1 provides an effective protective layer under the deck coating.
Example case study: Dita Projects Mineral Honsu | MS Franca
Confined spaces: Ballast tanks, DB/WT, voids and peaks
For hard-to-reach areas, we developed Corrosion Passivator Fluid, a soft coat that provides a quick and effective solution with minimal pre-treatment and can be applied in-service during operation. If a hard coat solution is preferred, Primer 2-in-1 offers a durable protective layer under the tank coating system
Example case study: HEBO – Lift 8 | Cargo ship (under cargo hold)
Pipelines
Blasting pipelines is difficult and time consuming and can be prohibited because of specific cargo or regulations. With Corrosion Passivator, corroded pipes and pipe supports can be treated direct-over-rust with long lasting results.
Example case study: Stolt-Nielsen & Tata Steel Ijmuiden
Technology – How it works
Not a coating but a metal treatment
While the application process may resemble that of traditional coatings, Corrosion Passivator technology goes a step further by chemically bonding to the metal itself, effectively preventing corrosion.
Corrosion Passivation
Rust Fe2O3 is passivated to FeO. All active rust is chemically converted and stabilized, effectively stopping the corrosion process.
Why it matters: Without passivation, remaining rust continues to spread underneath the coating, leading to early failure. Stopping the process at the source ensures durability.
Chemical bonding
With the substrate and the coating system. The passivated steel becomes chemically integrated with the coating system.
Why it matters: This dual function prevents undercreep of rust and provides excellent adhesion for subsequent coatings, extending the service life of the entire system.
