The building “The General” on Gen. Spoorlaan in Rijswijk was converted from office building to apartment complex between 2016 and 2021. To further improve acoustic insulation, acoustic insulation of the partition walls between the apartments began in 2022. A finish with nC ProTherm – dB-X acoustic and thermal insulating coating was chosen over the acoustic cladding.
The requirements from the builder:
- Acoustic insulation value;
- Condensation value due to non-permeable base of acoustic panels
- Non-flammable coating;
- Sprayable insulation with very long service life;
- Insulation must be free of toxic substances;
- Insulation must be able to be finished smoothly;
- Insulation must be able to provide a gap-tight finish around window frames and seams;
- Insulation must be able to be installed quickly without interfering with existing construction;
- Minimum occupant load.
Benefits of applying nC ProTherm – dB-X for the occupants of the house to the Gen. Spoorlaan in Rijswijk:
- Spaces are spray painted while furnished to minimize inconvenience for residents;
- Very short project time;
- Sound insulation with good acoustic insulation value between Rw 50 – 54
- Fire-resistant insulation;
- Condensation absorption 650cc per m2;
- Ability to easily make self repairs or reconstructions to the coating during future renovations or modifications to the rooms or to e home itself;
- Very long life, on the inside of the house >50 years;
- Cost-effective solution in cost coating, labor and afterwork;
- Green solution: Sustainable solution with low waste, no cutting waste, no wood consumption (no ragging) or plaster consumption;
- Green solution: Very long life, no toxic materials, low product consumption;
